§ 2-203. Authority and powers of code enforcement officer.

  • (a)

    A code enforcement officer is authorized to issue a citation to any person when, based upon personal investigation, and not necessarily personal knowledge, the officer has reasonable cause to believe that:

    (1)

    The person has committed a civil infraction violation of any duly enacted code or ordinance which is enforceable pursuant to this article, and

    (2)

    The county court will hear the charge.

    (b)

    A code enforcement officer shall have no power of arrest nor shall the officer be subject to the provisions of sections 943.085 through 943.244 Florida Statutes.

    (c)

    Refusal to accept a citation issued by a code enforcement officer shall constitute a misdemeanor of the second degree punishable as provided in section 12-225.
